Welcome to Enhance Equine Therapy. I work to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction with the services and products that I provide. This simple approach has effectively fueled growth since being established in 2018. I'm thrilled you’ve decided to visit - please browse the site to discover what I can offer to enhance the performance of you and your equine partner. I provide therapy to maintain and enhance normal movement patterns to enhance optimal performance.
I have had the education and training in Myofascial Release with John Barnes and his courses sectioning on the whole body along with specialty courses in pediatrics and women’s health for the human. I have taken Mark Barnes Equine Myofascial Release courses along with Skill Enhancements. Myofascial Release is a whole body and mind, hands on approach focusing on the fascial system. Fascial tension can limit mobility, along with causing pain, which then triggers compensation. The goal is to remove fascial restrictions and restore the body's equilibrium to enhance function and performance without restrictions. Fascia is the connective tissue below the skin that is a matrix or web throughout the body around each muscle group down to the cellular level. Restrictions in the fascia can cause 2,000 lbs of resistance throughout the tissue limiting movement and causing pain. Myofascial Release is a long hold compression/decompression and elongation of tissue into the restrictions to soften and enhance tissue mobility, decrease pain and enhance function.
I am FMT Certified in Basic and Advanced through Rocktape. Kinesiotape is placed on the skin to enhance the connection of the neurological system and connective tissue to enhance normal movement. Kinesiotape assists with reducing pain and muscle fatigue, reduce swelling/inflammation, promote energy, decompresses into the fascial system to enhance fascial glide and neuro-sensory (brain mapping) cueing muscle/tissue below to enhance performance and promote recovery. Kinesiotape can change muscle tone, move lymphatic fluids, correct movement patterns and improve posture.
I am FMT Certified practitioner through Rocktape in Basic and Advanced RockBlades which are Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) tools utilized in the treatment for myofascial restriction. Blades provide a mobilizing effect to scar tissue and myofascial adhesions.
I am FMT Certified through Rocktape. Cupping or myofascial decompression therapy is when the cups are placed on the skin and a suction is created. The negative pressure created by the suction decompresses the underlying tissues. As a result, this increases circulation, improves lymphatic movement, softens fascial and scar adhesions, and increases interstitial space to improve glide between soft tissue layers.
I am a Certified Magnawave Practitioner through the Magnawave Corporation. I utilize the Julian Duo allowing for two attachments to be used simultaneously, but independent intensity settings. The Magnawave is a Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) that can be used to allow the body to achieve a natural state of wellness. MagnaWave is said to improve cellular absorption of oxygen and nutrients while eliminating toxins, resulting in inflammation reduction, improved recovery times and performance in a drug-free way.
I am now trained and Certified with American Institute of Medical Laser Applications! The laser head focuses on tissue below the area of application to decrease inflammation, decrease pain and enhance healing on a medical grade class IV laser! Class IV Laser therapy is a drug-free, surgery-free, modality that uses a beam of light to deeply penetrate tissue. The laser energy is absorbed by the cells initiating a chemical change that reduces pain. inflammation and speeds healing. Session protocols are unique to each patient, and the patient's condition. Some conditions only need a single session. More chronic, difficult, conditions may require a series of sessions to get the maximum benefit. Laser therapy helps with tendon and suspensory injuries, degenerative joint disease, osteoarthritis, back disorders and wound healing.
When used to prevent injuries equine athletes can reach their peak performance.
I am always learning and working to improve both on the human and equine patient. Another tool in the tool box to enhance performance and decrease pain for the human! (Future goal for the equine).
“Dry needling is a skilled intervention that uses a thin filiform needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying Myofascial trigger points, muscular, and connective tissues for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. Dry needling is a technique used to treat dysfunction in skeletal muscle, fascia, and connective tissue, and diminish persistent peripheral nociceptive input, and reduce or restore impairments of body structure and function leading to improve activity and participation.”
Description of DN in Clinical Practice APTA
I will be available for the 2023 season in Verndale, MN for the MBPA that includes the Spring Tune Up, Race for the Roses, Sharp Truck Challenge, Fast N Furious, PEWC Finals & Harvest Run. I also will be available at the Wednesday Jackpots and special events at Stelter’s Double S Arena in Detroit Lakes,MN. I also go to area events along with requested appointments.
I have been an Occupational Therapist since 1997 that has developed a love for tissue and provide manual intervensions to restore dysfunction. The goal of a session is to enhance function, decrease restrictions and pain. I am a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and currently working on my CTPMT. I am always leaning and gaining knowledge to become better at what I do…
The riders movement mirrors the horses movement. A horse can feel every movement while you are on their back. This is why it is important to practice proper body positioning while riding especially when running the barrel pattern. As a rider if you are limited in your mobility it will affect your run. Cervical, trunk, shoulder, pelvis and knee limitations affect the communication of ideal feel and flow of movement of this pattern.
Kinesiotape can enhance the awareness of ideal positioning or proprioception of the horse and rider. Kinesiotape can affect multiple systems that include the circulatory/lymphatic, neural, muscular and fascial systems as well as the joints. Kinesiotape can change muscle tone, move lymphatic fluids, correct movement patterns and improve posture.
If you take care of both the horse and rider there is an awesome flow of movement!
I believe that tissue restrictions present differently throughout the body. I have a variety of tools for used for differences in tissue restrictions to promote the softening of tissue and minimize the pull throughout the body to enhance ideal movement and performance.
I am an Occupational Therapist that has specialized in John Barnes Myofascial Release treatment starting in 2003 on people. I became a Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist in 2018. I have also taken Mark Barnes Equine Myofascial Release I, II and Skill Enhancement courses. My equine focus came from helping my daughter’s horse that could not turn right and would bounce off the barrel. With palpation into his tissue around the shoulder and scapula there was thickness/harness with no tissue mobility. I could not palpate his scap border and there was minimal shoulder ROM needed for the agility to run the pattern. I provided MFR with noted tissue softening and increased shoulder ROM. There was a flow of movement and enhanced performance after my intervensions. I integrate my sessions with Rockblades to manipulate tissue thickness and enhance tissue mobility. I also utilize Rocktape (Kinesiotape) to enhance the neurological and sensory systems, increase circulation and enhance healing. I am a certified Lymphedema Therapist and have taken several wound care courses. Tissue and fluid movement are my specialty. The Pegasus & Magnawave treatments can stand alone or be another complimentary modality to enhance health and lengthen muscle tissue so it is reflected later with movement and optimal performance.
